My fascination with crystals began during one of my grandparents’ anniversary celebrations. They had a pebble driveway, and occasionally, among the ordinary stones, I would spot something extraordinary—a crystal pebble glistening in the sunlight. I would spend hours collecting these tiny treasures in a plastic bucket, entirely engrossed while my family did boring adult stuff.

Even as a four-year-old, I wasn’t just content with collecting; I wanted to share my discoveries. I would offer these crystal pebbles to family members, playfully selling them while keeping the best ones for myself. Once I had asked every family member, I would set up a blanket outside on the pavement, hoping to catch the attention of passersby and make my first sales. Fast forward to 2018, and my collection of crystals had grown significantly. From amethysts and rose quartz to unique and rare gemstones, my passion for collecting never faded. It became clear that my collection was too large to simply keep for myself, so I decided to share my love for crystals with others by starting an Etsy shop, Spiritbrothers.

Spiritbrothers began as a small venture with a few listings, but it quickly gained traction. My little shop turned into a vibrant community of crystal enthusiasts who appreciated the beauty and energy of these stones. Over time, Spiritbrothers grew from a side hustle into my main source of income.Bringing Crystals to Life: Opening Our First Physical Store

While selling crystals online was fulfilling, I missed the personal connection that comes from sharing crystals face-to-face. Crystals are deeply personal, and many people prefer to touch, feel, and see them up close, appreciating the intricate details that a camera can’t always capture. This desire to connect more directly with my customers led me to dream of opening a physical crystal shop.

I began searching for retail locations near me when I stumbled upon an article about the Derbion shopping centre in Derby. They were hosting the “Hatch Competition,” which offered small and local businesses the chance to pitch their business ideas for an opportunity to win a rent-free period in a prime retail location. With over 20 million yearly visitors, it was the perfect chance to bring my crystals to a wider audience.

Inspired by this opportunity, I pitched my business idea—and to my delight, I was selected! This incredible win gave me the chance to open my first physical store in a bustling shopping centre, allowing customers to experience the magic of crystals in person.
