Peridot
Fresh olive to lime green chips with a bright glassy shine, some clear and some with tiny inclusions.
About peridot
Peridot is the gem form of olivine, a mineral that forms deep in the Earth's mantle and is brought up by volcanoes. It is one of the few gems that comes in only one colour, green, from its iron content.
Peridot is the August birthstone. In crystal tradition it is linked with warmth, renewal and letting go of old worries, and it was once worn to keep away bad dreams.
How people use it
Worn as an everyday bracelet for its bright green colour. A favourite birthday gift for anyone born in August, and lovely stacked with gold or clear stones.
Care
Peridot can scratch and is sensitive to acids. Take it off before cleaning or swimming, roll it on rather than stretching it, and wipe it with a soft cloth.
Crystal meanings describe tradition and belief, not medical advice.
