Jade
Smooth green stone in shades from soft leafy green to deep forest green, often with lighter or darker mottling. It has a waxy, gentle shine and feels cool and dense in the hand.
About jade
Jade is a name given to two different minerals, nephrite and jadeite. Both are made of tightly interlocked fibres or grains, which makes jade remarkably tough. The word comes from the Spanish piedra de ijada, meaning loin stone.
Jade has been treasured for thousands of years, especially in China, where it is linked with good fortune and long life. Crystal tradition says it brings harmony, luck and kindness, and it is a traditional gift for friendship.
How people use it
Keep Jade in a purse or wallet as a luck stone, place it on a desk or by the till, or give it as a gift to wish someone well.
Care
Jade is very tough and resists chipping. Clean it with mild soapy water and a soft cloth, then dry. Avoid harsh chemicals.
