Smoky Quartz
Translucent quartz in shades of smoky grey, brown and soft black, from a pale haze to a deep, dark tone. It has a glassy shine and often a clear, see through quality.
About smoky quartz
Smoky quartz is a brown to grey variety of quartz. Its colour forms when natural radiation in the rock acts on tiny traces of aluminium within the crystal. It is the national gem of Scotland, where it is known as cairngorm.
In crystal tradition smoky quartz is a grounding and protective stone. It is said to help clear away negativity and stress, and is linked with steadiness, calm and feeling rooted.

Many people keep smoky quartz by the front door, near a computer, or in a pocket on busy days. It is also a popular choice to hold at the end of a long day to unwind.
Care
Avoid long spells in strong sunlight or heat, as the smoky colour can fade. Clean with water and a soft cloth, and store apart from softer stones.
