Juniper Berries
Small dried juniper berries in deep blue-black, with a fresh, piney scent.
About juniper berries
Juniper grows wild across the British Isles. In Scotland juniper was burned at New Year in a custom called saining, filling the house with its smoke to cleanse and protect it for the year ahead.
Juniper is best known today for flavouring gin. In folk magic it is a herb of protection and cleansing.
In a potion
Add a few berries to protection and peace potions, or to a jar for a new home.
Safety
For rituals and display only, not for eating or drinking. Keep away from children and pets, and store dry, out of direct sunlight.
Herb meanings describe folk tradition and belief, not medical advice.
