Star Anise
Whole star anise pods, eight-pointed and rich brown, with a sweet liquorice scent.
About star anise
Star anise comes from an evergreen tree in southern China and Vietnam, and is one of the spices in Chinese five-spice.
Its star shape has made it a favourite in folk magic: a star for luck and wishes, a charm for protection, and a spice said to help intuition and dreams.
In a potion
Place a whole star in a luck or wish potion, or keep one in your bag as a little charm.
Safety
For rituals and display only, not for eating or drinking. Keep away from children and pets, and store dry, out of direct sunlight.
Herb meanings describe folk tradition and belief, not medical advice.
