Golden Rutile
Clear, glassy quartz threaded with fine golden needles that catch the light like strands of hair. Some pieces hold a few bold needles, others a dense tangle of gold.
About golden rutile
Golden Rutile is clear quartz that grew around needles of rutile, a titanium oxide mineral. The rutile formed first and the quartz crystallised over it, trapping the needles inside. The name rutile comes from the Latin rutilus, meaning reddish or golden.
In crystal tradition the golden needles are said to carry the energy of sunlight. Rutilated quartz is traditionally linked with optimism, motivation and clear thinking, and some people believe it amplifies the qualities of the quartz around it.
How people use it
Keep one on your desk or in a pocket on days that need a bit of drive. People also hold it up to a window to watch the needles glow, or give it as a gift for a fresh start.
Care
Quartz is hard and hard-wearing. Rinse in lukewarm water and dry with a soft cloth. Store apart from softer stones, as it can scratch them.
